Midwife Musings
I returned home from Mauritania, Africa 48 hours ago with a heart of gratitude. As I suspected it would, Africa changed me more than I changed it. I am so grateful that I had the experience.
I am now working at Sage Femme Birth Center in Kansas City, KS. It is so hard to turn potential homebirth clients away after attending homebirths for the last 9 years. But with the loss of the collaborating physician, that door has been closed. I am grateful for the position at SFBC so I can keep up my skills in an environment that doesn't kill my spirit, as the hospital would.
More on Mauritania later. I'm still wiped out but wanted to report that I'm still alive and well.
